Swadhyaya Intensive, a One-Month Yoga Immersion

A Yoga Philosophy Study Course with Lila

Bhagavad Gita
Leelaa Yoga Studio  |  72 Main Street  |  Springboro, Ohio

Mondays starting March 19, 2012

Swadhyaya, or translated as “Self study” is the focus and foundation of this month-long intensive philosophy course. This course will focus on introducing you to the Bhagavad Gita, literally meaning “Song of God.”

More than a epic war story and sacred text, this scripture illumines the path from separation to union, from inner/outer conflict to complete resolution. The beauty of the Gita is that it is 100% applicable to our modern life. This powerful book offers insight into how to live a righteous life today and shed light on the road towards inner peace and happiness.

The group will meet weekly to explore these practical teachings. The group environment offers Sangha (community) and a unified, yet diverse perspective of this well-known scripture. Weekly reading and contemplation homework assignments will be assigned at each gathering (see examples below). We will also have a 4-hour intensive that will serve as an opportunity to more deeply explore the Gita’s teachings in relation to the individual, community and world today.

The purpose of this course is to bring spiritual conscious teachings to everyday life... benefiting the individual, community and planet.  Upon completion of the course, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion for 16 hours of continuing education study on  the Bhagavad Gita.

Perfect for yoga teachers, yoga students or anyone seeking to dive deeper into a relationship with the soul, immortal Atman. This book has an easy to understand and exciting storyline while simultaneously sharing spiritual wisdom found in all religions, all cultures. Known to be one of the most famous spiritual texts in the world, the Bhagavad Gita is a living breathing tutorial to modern day spiritual living and is a roadmap to living a life of inner peace, ceaseless happiness and everlasting union with the Supreme.

TOPIC OF STUDY:

Bhagavad Gita

Book to Order: The Living Gita by Swami Satchidananda

A Peak into a couple of your Contemplation Assignments:

  1. In chapter one we are reminded to be cautious of our emotional attachments to people as this is how we lose sight of Truth (verse 45). You assignment for Week One is to inquire “What are my emotional attachments?” and then journal about “How do my emotional attachments make you lose sight of the Truth?”

  2. In chapter two, it reveals one of the sweetest teachings, “Please teach me, for I have taken refuge in you.” This is when Arjuna (the despondent warrior) is at his lowest of lows. He is begging the Lord (Krishna) to teach him how to get out of this time of turmoil. What is a mantra you can use to remind you to turn to God even when you are at your lowest of lows? Please use your own words. We will now make a hand-made bookmark stating this mantra.

If you are seeking a deeper understanding of the Bhagavad Gita, this month-long intensive will illumine the vast amount of information that truly lies in the jewel of each sloka. This scripture is a story about Arjuna (who represents each of us) and how to come out of a state of desperation and evolve into the state of an enlightened being; a being that radiates inner peace in the highest and purest state. Please join us as we journey through a month together falling in love with the
Gita.

Looking forward to growing with you!

LILA’S INSPIRATION

“Last night when I was reviewing this beautiful scripture for this intensive, I was sweetly reminded of just how powerful and transformative its teachings can be in one’s life.

In that moment, inspiration strongly surged through me to offer it by donation, so that all are able to gain insight into it’s magnificence.

This truly is a wonderful story for everyone... not just yogis, so feel free to bring your friends and family who may not even practice yoga. :) So looking forward to studying and sharing together.
